more waterfalls - El Condac

I've really been enjoying my site these past couple of weeks. I thought for sure that I'd be bored out of my mind once school let out but I've actually been super busy. I think one thing that has made it much more enjoyable has been the lack of rain. Now that the kids are out of school they are free to go on more paseos. The other day I checked off another tourist spot in Cochán and went and visited this pretty tall waterfall called Condac. Everyone in town knows about it but hardly anyone has ever been. Now this can't compare to Gocta in Chachapoyas but it was still pretty impressive. The only downside was that we couldn't actually get across the river where the water fell. It was a good 2.5 hours hike each way to get there but it didn't seem that far. I've become pretty accustomed to walking around in the campo that as long as it isn't straight uphill, I don't mind the walks.

The whole gang that went. Posing in front of the waterfall but you can't see it because the camera is on timer mode.

There's the waterfall!

Gathering different kinds of plants for their nativity scene. They all came back carrying large bags of plants.

A real live scarecrow!!

Boing! (Kids are crazy, I couldn't even walk on the rocks they were too slippery)

Splish splash

Here is their nativity scene. It is rather large and takes up a corner of a room. Every year they decorate it with fresh plants.
